Hot Pink Lemonade
Lemonade is one of the most common refreshing drinks in the world. Lemonade is not a favorite of many, but those who do drink it know how to make it exactly as they want. There are many ways to make lemonade, depending on the geographical region, the type of lemons that are available there and, of course, personal taste.
There is such a thing as a hot pink lemonade. Usually it is made like normal lemonade, with water, lemons and some form of sweetener, but with the added benefit of being, well… hot pink. The color is achieved by adding artificial colors used for cooking, better said pink food coloring. This is the more unhealthy version of the drink, but the same pink can be achieved by adding other fruits to give the water a reddish-pinkish tint. Grenadine is most commonly used, but other options are red grapefruit juice, cranberry juice, strawberry juice etc. These also affect the taste of the lemonade to give it more of a fruity finish.
The recipe for hot pink lemonade is simple. You only need one cup of water, two cups of sugar (preferably white, so the brown won’t take away the bright color), and two quarters of fresh lemon juice. Then there will be need for 7 more cups of water, this time cool; 2 cups of ice and three quarters of a cup of the fruit you want to color your drink.
The first cup of water should be boiled with the sugar until the concoction becomes clear. The lemon juice is added to this and stirred again. Then comes more water and ice, plus the syrup made out of the fruit. The fruit you decide to add to your lemonade is the one that determines the exact color of the drink. Different fruit make a different hue of pink; you might have to work on achieving the ‘hot pink’ version.
