Lemon Health Remedies

Lemon and lemon juice have been used as remedies for a variety of conditions, including obesity, chronic constipation, digestive disorders, diarrhea, scurvy, cold, dry cough, malarial fevers and tonsillitis, among others. Green tea with lemon may be useful in the treatment of impotence too. Green tea contains an antioxidant called catechin, which helps to improve blood flow, one of the effects of erectile dysfunction prescription drugs. Even though giving this remedy a try will not have negative consequences, it does not mean impotence patients should not buy Viagra, especially if they have been prescribed that drug by their doctor. Moreover, they should be aware of the interactions, as it is well known that grapefruit for instance reacts badly to Sildenafil Citrate. Lemon is not grapefruit but it is pretty close, so it is best to be on the safe side.

Traditionally, lemon is best known as a cough remedy. As most people known, lemon juice has vitamin C, which enhances immune function, and will help the body fight the infection if the cough is caused by a virus or bacteria. The acid also helps to clear phlegm in the throat, an element that more often than not worsens a cough. The juice can be used on its own or in combination with honey. The mixture of honey, lemon and hot water clears mucus from the throat and provides a soothing layer to relieve the irritation associated with coughing.

Many people may not be aware of this, but lemon may also be used in place of a deodorant. Therefore, if you run out of antiperspirant, you can simply slice a lemon open and apply it to your armpit. In fact, you can replace your regular deodorant altogether, seeing as lemons are usually cheaper, not to say more natural.
